Work Visas

There are a number of permanent and temporary visas available that will enable you to live and work in Australia.  A lawfully operating Australian or overseas business can sponsor a skilled worker for a vacant position in particular occupations in Australia.  To obtain these visas, you will have to demonstrate specific skills, qualifications and experience to be employed in the relevant occupation.

 

There are three main types of employer sponsored visas that will enable you to work in Australia:

 

Temporary Work (Skilled) Visa – Subclass 457

A temporary visa that enables a business to sponsor an overseas worker to work in a position in Australia for up to 4 years.

 

Employer Nomination Scheme (ENS) Visa – Subclass 186

A permanent residence visa for overseas workers to work in a position in Australia.

 

Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme (RSMS) Visa – Subclass 187

A permanent residence visa for overseas workers to work in a position in a regional area of Australia.

 

Other Work Visas Include:

 

Temporary Work (Entertainment) Visa – Subclass 420

A temporary visa that enables an overseas worker to work in  Australia in the entertainment industry.

 

Temporary Work (Long Stay Activity) Visa – Subclass 401

A temporary visa that enables overseas workers to enter Australia  for a sporting event or competition, to work in a religious institution or participate in a staff exchange program.
